Xmas 2005

A look at the Town in December

GO TO THE HATHERLEIGH CHRISTMAS TREE FESTIVAL PAGELike many towns and villages in Devon, Hatherleigh is lit up for the festive season of Christmas 2005, and many different ways of celebrating the season of goodwill are taking place.

We are trying to capture the flavour so keep visiting as this page will be updated with Carol Singing, Silver Bands, perhaps some Christmas Services too, and probably lots more, shortly.

Check out our Christmas Tree Festival page too.

REMINDER: Another unique Hatherleigh happening is coming! The 'Walruses' do their annual jump into the river on January 1st - come and watch if you can as it's a huge laugh with lots of silly Fancy Dress and a bonfire, plus each year more gets added to entertain the crowds. .Net will be there with TWO cameras, so look for the extended Picture Report of this key charity event.

RAM'S HEAD SCULPTURE FRAMED BY CHRISTMAS TREE IN THE SQUARE m<ARKET STREET HATHERLEIGH, WITH THE TALLY HO PUB ON THE RIGHT

THE ANGEL IN ST JOHNS ENTRANCE

Yes, we did shoot this after dark too ... see below

IS THIS THE STAR OF BETHLEHEM?

Can you see the Star? It's somewhere over Highhampton! we think.

An odd position because so much in the Square is in the wrong place - poles, toilet signs, lamp posts all get in the way. Ah well, maybe next year!

Not an easy shot - timing is all. It really needs to be taken as the sun is setting and as the lights are switched on. We may try again later.

Here's another try. Is it better than the one above?

And, how about this one?

Finally, the Carol Service beside the tree in The Square on Christmas Eve.
